Timing Drives

Timing/Synchronous Belts are basically endless flat belts that pass over pulleys, the belts having grooves that mate with teeth in the pulleys. These belts are used to ensure that the driven pulley is always rotating at a fixed speed ratio to the driving pulley.

These drives have been developed continuously over the years, from the classic imperial (XL, L, H pitch) and metric (T2.5, T5, T10 pitch) timing belts, through to modern advanced synchronous belts (Polychain GT), capable of transmitting much higher loads.

Pulleys are made from either aluminium, cast iron or steel, and special Timing Pulleys can be made by our sister company Apple Gears.
